What’s convenient about sharing the Gospel? So often Christians think it is such an accomplishment to share the gospel. Recently I have discovered the underlying reason why we sinners rejoice... for it makes us look holy, righteous, and good, but not only that, rather it makes us look better than our brothers and sisters in Christ. Self righteousness is the disease of the church today. We hold ourselves above everyone else, gossip about one another, complain about slow service and bad food, lie to get ahead, hoard our money, and look down on those that can’t get it right. The average Christian doesn’t spend time with God daily, lets be realistic, do the majority? For if they truly spent the majority of their time praising God, reading the Word and growing, witnessing, giving, and taking care of the poor then they wouldn’t have time to engage in such fruitless and evil acts. Think about it... what does one do when they are not being productive? Being unproductive! Either the words that come from your mouth are words of life and truth or they are not. So why do the majority of Christians these days that witness to people make it a point to let everyone know what they did? Because they never do it! It is beyond amazing to watch and to hear that brothers and sisters are coming to Christ- make no mistake about it, for this indeed is our goal as Christians, but it is not about us! It is not about our efforts! It is about the saving redemptive power of Jesus Christ! Spreading the Gospel and winning people to Christ should not be out of the ordinary for us, for it should overflow out from our mouths constantly. At exactly what point did we allow sharing God's truth to become rare? When I became a Christian I am pretty sure I don't remember getting an option between weather or not I thought the Great Commission was applicable to me. Hello! Jesus hasn't come back yet. But have we given up already? Where is our urgency, our compassion, our fire? Muslims fly air planes into buildings for a god that doesn't even exist but we serve the One True God by throwing a potluck dinner. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Talk about embarrassing. Walking with Christ is more than a dinner roll and beef stew at Bible Study, more than church and nice clothes, more than calling yourself a Christian, aka a "good person" (which is completely jacked up considering we are all wretched sinners). Walking with Christ is reaching out for Him, reaching out to others and that completely involves speaking up, for how will they hear if we remain silent? It is common sense. We know what we are to do, but perhaps it is just not common choice. Ladies, Christianity isn't a club- you have to participate. It is life, it is true, it is Christ, and if we believe in Him like we claim to, then may we act like it... or more effectively, be like it! Either speak up, or shut up. Don't open your mouth if your words can not hold His living water, for your empty words are useless to Him and so are your efforts. If we are going to walk the walk, then we should talk the talk. God didn't create us for convenience, He created us for Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20:
"Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
James 4:10-12:
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?"
Romans 10:10-14:
"For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?"
Challenge: Ladies, I challenge you to get far out of your comfort zone this week. Let God use you in a mighty way. Lets open our mouths and share the Gospel. Remember the 8 points. I want you to share the Gospel with 7 different people this week. One a day. Ask God to lead you and give you the words to speak. Watch Him work through you, and journal about it. I would love to hear about these experiences, so email me at Luckyblondie723@aol.com . I Love you all very much and hope you have a wonderful week. Praying for you. God bless! - Jess <3
